Get Out While You Can

This morning was a chilly run, 24 degrees wind chill.  But that didn’t stop me.  Admittedly, sometimes that cold of a morning does, but today it was snowing when I got up.

I love running in the snow.  Last winter, I never ran in the snow.  This winter, I’ve run as much as possible in the snow.  I don’t necessarily like it once it’s accumulating, but when it’s falling, that’s prime running time for me.

This morning, snow had accumulated about 2-3 inches on my running grounds, and I got outside just after the plow pretended to plow our road.  The snow was wet and thick and visibility, had it not been pre-dawn, would have been very low.  It wasn’t my hardest snow run…that would be when there was 6-8 predawn inches on the ground.  It was just a fun run.  And I couldn’t help but think that since we’re into late March, it might be my last chance to run in falling snow until next winter.

The funny thing is, I don’t usually like being out in the snow.  My husband is the one who helps the kids build forts and snowmen…I prefer the warmth of indoors, but running in the snow, that’s a total thrill for me!
